Iran's OPEC governor Hossein does at 68

Governor Hossein Kazempour Ardebili has died of a brain haemorrhage two weeks after falling into a coma.

According to the oil minister, Governor Hossein was admitted in a hospital in Tehran where he died on Saturday morning at the age of 68.

The veteran politician was appointed governor to the OPEC oil cartel in 1985.

Ardebili had in 1981 survived a bomb attack targeted at the Islamic Republic Party headquarters in Tehran which killed 73 top Iranian officials.

The bombing was blamed on the People ‘s Mujahedeen, a rebel group which has since renounced violence but consider terrorist by Iran Government.
